Bolin NS5 From the mind of Ned Steinberger and the workshop of John Bolin comes the new Bolin NS Bass 5. The body is Alder, the top Flamed Maple. The neck is solid Rock Maple, the fretboard Ebony. A single dual coil EMG pickup is supplemented by a Fishman piezo bridge pickup. This is one piezo that sounds good alone – my test for piezo pickups.
Combined with the magnetic pickup and the versatile EMG 18V preamp , this bass offer a wealth of usable tones.
Controls are Mag Volume and 3 band EQ ( w/sweepable mids) and Piezo Volume and Tone. Dig that slotted headstock ?
It looks cool and enables more downward string angle over the nut , thereby enhancing tone and sustain.
