About a year or so ago a used MTD 5 came thru the shop.
What was different about that bass was the neck - Wenge with a Maple
fretboard.
There is a certain low end emphasis with a little more snap than you
will find with a Maple neck /  Ebony board .
This example has a Swamp Ash body with central Maple core.
The top is Quilt Maple with a deep cherry burst tint.
